Slovakia to hit 26 EU chapters by mid-year

JÁN Figeľ, Slovakia's main negotiator for European Union entry, said final negotiations on the tax 'chapter' of pre-entry requirements for the European Union would take place March 21. Slovakia has already made the required legislative changes in 22 of 29 areas the EU sets for entry candidates. Figeľ said that by mid-year 2002 the country wanted to have completed the Schengen, economic competition and transport chapters for a total of 26.
