BUSINESS BRIEFS

Suspicious sponsorship

THE SDKÚ party of Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda last year received a gift of Sk300,000 ($6,200) cash from the Jefo company, which is jointly owned by the failed Drukos investment firm and one of its top officials. Both the SDKÚ and Drukos have denied the gift could have influenced the government's slow and ineffective response to the crash of several investment funds in February and March in which hundreds of thousands of Slovaks lost their life savings.
