Trade deficit worse than last year

THE TRADE deficit for the first two months of 2002 was Sk12.1 billion, Sk1.9 billion higher than in January and February last year. While imports in the period were down 2.3 per cent year-on-year, exports fell 4.5 per cent. The trade deficit in 2001, at a record Sk103 billion, has drawn concern from international groups such as the World Bank and International Monetary Fund.
