A joint Slovak-Russian inter-government commission on April 9 suggested financing a project to build a metro system for Bratislava from the debt Russia owes to Slovakia, with the Russian side looking after all construction. Economy Minister Ľubomír Harach said he had been “very pleasantly surprised” by the proposal.
