Europeans still mixed on Slovak entry

A SURVEY by the European Commission of attitudes in EU countries, called Eurobarometer, has found that 40 per cent of citizens of current EU states are in favour of Slovakia's entering the Union while 38 per cent are against.

Of the 12 candidate countries Slovakia is in sixth position, the same as last year. Slovakia's entry is most supported by Sweden, Greece and Denmark, and least by Britain, France and Austria.

The most popular candidate countries among EU nationals are Malta, Hungary and Poland.
