SCP reports pre-tax income of 133m Sk for 3Q-97

SCP Inc., the paper mill in Ružomberok, had a pre-tax income of 133 million Sk for the first nine months of this year, a significant drop compared to 480 million Sk profit in the same period last year. The decline is attributed to Deutsch mark's exchange rate swings since about 99 percent of all SCP's exports are directed at "DEM markets". The income was also negatively influenced by the cyclical price development in the pulp-paper industry. SCP produced goods worth 4.8 billion Sk in the first nine months, a 5.6 percent annual growth.
