World's best photography showcased this month all across Slovakia

The biggest photography exhibition of the year in Central and Eastern Europe kicks off November 8 at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratisava. The seventh annual "Month of Photography" brings 38 exhibitions of some of the world's finest photographers to towns all over Slovakia.
The main star of this years' event is the American photographer Annie Leibowitz, famous for her portraits of celebrities and pictures from the Atlanta Olympics. Leibowitz will be present for the opening of her exhibition.
The event already started unofficially in Košice, showcasing the works of the famous photographer Karol Divald, a native of Košice. Divald was one of the pioneers of photography in the late 19th century.

The entire "Month of Photography" ranks as one of the biggest events of photography in not just Central and Eastern Europe but all of Europe as well compared to similar events in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Paris. It was made possible in Slovakia thanks to a grant by the European Union and sponsorship by Tabak, s.r.o./Philip Morris.

The event aims to bring to a large audience the best of domestic and international photography while promoting the art of photography. It promises to be quite a month. Here is a list of some highlights around Slovakia.
