Less Slovaks depend on social benefits

The total number of citizens depending on social benefits was 378,623 (7 percent of total population), as of December 1996, which is 7.3 percent less than in 1995. The share of socially dependent inhabitants varies widely by region (1.75 percent in Bratislava, 11.63 percent in Košice).
