McDonald's opens in Trnava

McDonald's first franchisee in Slovakia will open a restaurant in Trnava on October 25. The restaurant on Hlboká ulica - opposite a Billa supermarket, near the football and hockey stadiums and the site of a future ÖMV - is the fast-food chain's third in Slovakia. Whereas the first two restaurants in Banská Bystrica and Bratislava are owned by McDonald's, the Trnava outlet is franchised to Regata Ltd., a Bratislava-based firm owned by Otto Galis. Galis is a Slovak entrepreneur whose primary business experience is in food services. A company spokeswoman said Slovakia's fourth McDonald's is slated to open in the Lamač section of Bratislava in December and that six more will open next year.
