The world's number one software maker, Microsoft, is planning to launch Microsoft Office 97 (MS Office 97) on to the Slovak market in February. "It will be a special product," said Eva Sabová from Microsoft Slovakia. The new version is expected to be priced around 12,000 Sk ($400 US), the same as the version on the market now.
Sabová said that MS Office 97 will have a host of new features that take advantage of the internet. So besides the standard word processor Word, and spreadsheet program Excel, MS Office 97 will integrate an "Internet Hyperlink," a "Web FindFast Search," and "FrontPage Explorer."
The most useful feature for consumers will be the inclusion of "FrontPage Explorer" into MS Office 97. "FrontPage Explorer" includes an HTML-type editor that can create web pages in an environment known as WYSIWYG. This will allow easy creation of personalized web pages. Currently it is available separately in stores as well.
"Internet Hyperlink" can create hyperlinks from Word or Excel documents to any URL including HTML web sites or other documents in MS Office. This means that visually on screen a user can access an internet site or other frequently used documents with ease.
"Web FindFast Search" will be a key word search hooked up with the internet through Internet Explorer to find a document on the Internet or in computer storage. After the file is found, it can be integrated into Word and thus manipulated.
