SDSS wants EU, NATO roundtable chat

The Social Democratic Party (SDSS) has proposed that a round-table discussion aimed at drawing up a declaration on entry into the EU and NATO take place before the September parliamentary session, ČTK reported on August 14. SDSS Chairman Jaroslav Volf said the second goal of the meeting will be to present to the public a document explaining the advantages and disadvantages of joining Euro-Atlantic structures. So far, only opposition parties have agreed to attend. And some of them are not optimistic what will be accomplished. Ján Čarnogurský, chairman of the opposition Christian Democratic Movement (KDH), told the opposition daily Sme that he is "rather skeptical about the significance and outcome of the round-table."
