Distributor sales finally approved

The cabinet yesterday approved the Sk25 billion ($540 million) sale of 49 per cent stakes in three Slovak energy distributors to several European utilities, including EdF of France, and the German E.ON and RWE Plus.

The decision came after several weeks of delays in which government parties demanded explanations of the tender conditions and reassurances regarding future energy prices and impact on the economy.
