EU stats show Slovaks among worst paid

European Union statistics on candidate countries show that Slovak citizens in the industrial and services sectors earned 279 euros a month in 1999, one of the lowest wage levels of any country applying for entry. Czechs earned 359 euros, Hungarians 318 and Poles 442 euros in the same year, the study found.
