THE CZECH news agency ČTK reported that as Denmark took over the presidency of the European Union on July 1 for a six-month period expected to end in the conclusion of entry negotiations with 10 countries, the outcome of fall elections in Slovakia are seen as one of the risks to enlargement.
The others are divided Cyprus and an Irish referendum on the Nice Summit treaty.
A Danish source told ČTK that if former Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar were to return to power in Slovak elections, some EU member states would veto Slovakia's entry.
