Schuster returns Retail Law

PRESIDENT Rudolf Schuster has refused to sign a Retail Chains Law into effect, returning it to parliament for further debate. The legislature is to meet August 19 and 20 to discuss the bill.

The president had objected to a clause in the bill requiring retail stores to carry a "proportional" selection of Slovak goods, a wording that critics said was so vague it invited corruption and court challenges.
