Soldiers interested in Afghanistan mission

TWICE AS MANY applicants as are needed want to join a Slovak military unit to be sent to Afghanistan aiding the US-led Enduring Freedom operation. Defence Minister Jozef Stank told journalists July 11 that a commission was now discussing the selection of candidates.

The unit, expected to leave for Afghanistan by August 31 this year, will consist of around 40 military engineering specialists.
