Twin deficits threaten

Analysts at the Austrian Raiffeisen bank have said the main economic challenge for the government formed in Slovakia after September elections will be controlling the twin fiscal and trade deficits.

After being reduced early in the tenure of the 1998-2002 Dzurinda government, the Slovak deficits have this year become a major economic topic for international observers.
