THE UNITED Nations Development Project (UNDP) has ranked Slovakia in 36th place out of 173 countries on its Human Development Index, which compares lifespan, education and standard of living in nations across the world.
In regional terms, Slovakia was slightly behind the Czech Republic (33rd) and Hungary (35th) but ahead of Poland.
Norway was ranked the most developed nation, followed by Sweden and Canada. Sierra Leone was at the bottom of the heap, among a list of low-ranking African nations.
