AgMin reports increased production

SLOVAKIA'S agriculture sector accounted for 4.89 per cent of the country's GDP last year, according to an Agriculture Ministry report. The report also puts Slovakia's gross agricultural production for 2001 at Sk48.6 billion ($1.1 billion) in 1995 prices, up 7.8 per cent year-on-year.

However, the country's trade deficit in farm and food products also grew by 20 per cent last year, increasing by Sk3.4 billion to Sk20.3 billion ($441 million).
