Roma attacked in Poprad

Three Roma were attacked on September 14 in the north Slovakia city of Poprad by a 10-strong group of shaven-headed young men. A woman victim remains in hospital with serious head injuries and stab wounds.

Seven culprits have been arrested, and police say that the men will be charged with assault. The police are also treating the attack as a racially motivated crime, as the men have said they had set out to find Roma and beat them up.

Since the beginning of this year Poprad has recorded six racially motivated crimes, of which five have been solved.
