Prodi: Don't fall asleep and you're in

EUROPEAN Commission head Romano Prodi said Slovakia is "80 to 90 per cent" prepared for EU entry, and that the country can make up the remaining ground before 2004 membership "unless you fall asleep".

The EC on October 9 published a report on five years of Slovakia's progress towards EU entry in which it said the young central European nation was ready to join the EU.
