How popular is digital photography?

This past June Sony Slovakia initiated a project called Through the Eyes of Sony, a digital photography competition aimed at promoting digital photography. Over the last four months, 400 photographers submitted nearly 1,600 photographs to the website www.fotoalbumy.sk. A jury made up of professional photographers selected over 50 photos. These photographs, which vary in theme and technique, are on display through November 15 at the Sony Centre in the Carlton-Savoy building in Bratislava.

The winner of the competition is Vladimír Klement from the Dunajská Streda district. His photograph, entitled "Dreaming", is of his baby son. A photo of Čachtice castle by Ján Varga from Vlčany received the most votes from the Internet audience.

"It's only a matter of time before digital photography replaces regular photography," said one of the competition's organisers.
