POLICE have broken up the Slovak branch of an international drug-smuggling ring that transported drugs from Asia through the so-called Balkan route.
On November 4 the police arrested the head of the local branch of the international ring, a Macedonian man Adem S., and four Slovaks: a co-organiser, a man responsible for storing the drugs, a courier and a drug dealer.
During the raid, called Kompa 2, the police also seized 4.5 kilograms of heroin.
If found guilty, the men will face eight to 15 years in jail.
