Slovakia to stand by US in Iraq attack

PM MIKULÁŠ Dzurinda, with the heads of nine other post-communist eastern and central European nations, signed a declaration at a November 21-22 Nato summit of support for the US in the event of an American strike on Iraq.

While some analysts saw the declaration as part of an attempt to increase diplomatic pressure on Iraq's leader, Saddam Hussein, Slovak officials said they stood by the commitment.
