Farmers protest EU proposals

About 300 farmers protested in front of the European Commission delegation in Bratislava over the EU’s proposal to give candidate countries only 25 percent of the agricultural aid enjoyed by EU members, as well as the caps on Slovak agricultural production the EU has suggested.

In Prague meanwhile, a similar protest drew 8,000 farmers who threw eggs and broke windows.
