FINANCE Minister Ivan Mikloš proposed abolishing customary Christmas bonuses for civil servants to make up an expected Sk3.4 billion ($70 million) 2003 state budget shortfall caused by the recent rejection of a public service wage law.
In an interview with the Sme daily paper, Mikloš also promised to introduce in January 2003 a complete overhaul of the tax system to make it simpler and easier to control.
