Family benefits not capped as claimed

THE LABOUR ministry has admitted an error in its claim that social benefits would be slashed to a maximum of Sk10,500 (260 euro) a month regardless of the number of children, and said that the actual amount could be far higher.

The ministry had introduced the cuts as part of its campaign to reduce both the cost and abuse of Slovakia's generous social benefits system.
