Murdered policemen honoured

INTERIOR Minister Vladimír Palko promoted in memoriam two officers who were shot dead January 15 and 16 while on duty and expressed his deepest condolences to the mourning families.

Július Izsák from Kolárovo died during a police operation following a reported robbery in a local bank. Viktor Ďurovský from Považská Bystrica died as a result of a shot wound he suffered while trying to apprehend two thieves who had broken into a local private firm.

Palko said he would attend the funerals of both officers, and promised to give financial help to the officers' families.
