Ministers slammed for appearing at ad event

Anticorruption watchdog Transparency International Slovakia has criticised Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš and Labour Minister Ludovit Kanik for appearing at a promotional event organised by Porsche Slovakia, Voelkl, and weekly magazine Trend in the central Slovak ski resort Tale last weekend.

With the exception of charity events, government officials must not use their names, faces, voices, or images to advertise the products of private firms, according to Slovakia's existing law on conflict of interests.

The ministers, however, rejected the allegations, and said they were participating in a social event to which they were invited by Trend.
