Inflation rises in January

The cabinet's recent austerity measures have contributed to a 5.3 per cent increase in consumer prices in January from December, the biggest month-on-month growth since July 1999. Consumer prices rose 7.3 percent year-on-year, partly in response to January 1 hikes in regulated prices.
