President submits economic plan

UNHAPPY with what it perceives as a lack of long-term vision for Slovakia's economic development, President Rudolf Schuster's office has produced materials to help the cabinet define Slovakia's economic plans for the future.

The material was written by a senior member of Schuster's economic team, Jozef Trojak, who under the 1994-1998 Vladimír Mečiar cabinet served as head of the Finance Ministry's finance, politics, and prognosis department.

The plan includes proposals such as "the diversification of exports to eastern markets and China".
