Increased safety on the agenda

THE INTERIOR Ministry has asked the cabinet to release Sk50 million (1.1 million euro) to strengthen security in the country, as the situation in Iraq is creating a "tense" atmosphere, according to Defence Minister Ivan Šimko.

Šimko said: "Although Slovakia is not threatened directly, it is necessary to adopt measures in this situation, which is becoming increasingly tense around the world."
