Slovak dairy threatened by West

SLOVAKIA's dairy producers union the SMZ warned that the industry was facing severe competition from imported Western products.

Head of the SMZ Ján Brocko said that the industry recorded a steep fall in earnings in 2002, from a Sk170 million (4 million euro) profit in 2001 to a loss of Sk123 million (3 million euro) last year.
