E.ON widens influence in Slovakia

German firm E.ON has bought the remaining 40 per cent interest in Ruhrgas for 4.1 billion euro. Ruhrgas has a 24.5 per cent stake in the gas company SPP, and has two members on the utility's five-member board.

A subsidiary of E.ON, E.ON Energie already owns 49 per cent of Western Slovakia Electricity (Západoslovenská energetika) and has expressed interest in the current sale of a 49 per cent stake in Slovak electricity generator Slovenské elektrárne.
