Inflation lower than expected

Prices in February rose by just 0.6 per cent month-on-month, after a 5.3 per cent rise in January. The February data represents a year-on-year increase of 7.6 per cent.

Analysts had expected higher rises, but now suggest that retailers may have delayed increases until March. The highest price hikes were in hotel accommodation, catering, and transportation.
