Slovakia tightens security

A thousand soldiers are helping police protect Slovakia's most important routes and buildings as the country tightens security. The secret service says it has intensified investigation of extremist groups in the country.

Stricter controls will be in place at the country's airports and border crossings, and visa applications from countries of the Middle East will come under more scrutiny than usual, officials said.
