Welcoming spring

WITH Easter approaching, towns around the country are starting to hold exhibitions of handmade symbols of this holiday - decorated eggs, wicker whips, honey cakes, and products made from corn husks.

One such exhibition, called Welcoming Easter, recently opened in the Radoľa manor house (Radoľský Kaštiel) near the northwestern town of Kysucké Nové Mesto. The exhibited items, created by 43 craftsmen from the Kysuce region and Žilina district, are for sale.

The exhibition is on through April 22. Moreover, people can learn how to make whips from wicker on April 1 and 8. And on April 11 visitors can watch a demonstration of an egg decoration technique which uses fine copper wire. These demonstrations will run from 10:00 to 13:00.
