Kukan popular choice for president

FOREIGN Minister Eduard Kukan is the most popular potential presidential candidate, with 14 per cent support, followed by former prime minister and leader of the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) Vladimír Mečiar with 10.4 per cent, according to research by Slovak Radio carried out in the second half of March.

The same research found that the most important criteria people applied to their choice were the ability to communicate with the public, moral standing, and the ability to defend Slovakia's interests abroad.
