Bugár to remain head of SMK

BÉLA Bugár will continue as leader of the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) for a further four years, after winning a leadership contest at the party's congress on March 29. Pál Csáky will stay as deputy leader.

The congress also approved the formation of a younger wing of the political party for members aged between 16 and 30. Bugár said he believed his opponent for the leadership in four years' time would come from that branch of the party.

Last week, both Béla Bugár and SMK deputy leader Pál Csáky were sent packages containing a white powder. The packages were intercepted by police at the main post office in Bratislava.
