Slovak Post profits fall

STATE-OWNED Slovak Post announced a net profit of Sk169 million (4.1 million euro) for 2002, Sk56 million (1.4 million euro) less than the previous year. The profit was slightly higher than expectations, according to the country's finance director Jiří Vacek.

Vacek said the better results were due to higher revenues and tighter financial control.

Last year the post office handled 385 million letters and 5 million parcels.
