Winter returns to Slovakia

After two weeks of spring weather, Slovakia is back under the grip of winter. In several highland areas the temperatures dropped to -10 degrees Celsius.

There were heavy winds and snowfalls of between 5 and 20 centimetres. The cold weather is expected to last for several days and ski resorts are predicting excellent skiing conditions for the forthcoming Easter break.

The snow has caused problems for motorists, many of whom have already changed from winter to summer tyres.
