Mečiar fails to declare assets

FORMER prime minister and leader of the opposition Movement for a Democratic Slovakia Vladimír Mečiar has still not declared his assets to the conflict-of-interests committee, as all MPs are required to do.

Mečiar says he asked for guarantees that the data would not be misused, although the head of the committee, Igor Federič, said that he had received no such request.

Eleven other MPs missed the March 31 deadline for declaring their assets, although three later handed in their declarations.
