State fee system to change again

THE FINANCE Ministry is preparing new rules governing the payment of fees for state services, including the issuance of passports. Currently, the state receives Sk1.6 billion (€39 million) annually through the fees.

The amendment to the law will also address the long delays in processing applications, mainly for land-registry services, although it is not yet clear how.

If passed, this will be the 15th change in the law of fees since August 1995.
