Police busts petrol gang in mass raid

SLOVAK police have cracked a so-called petrol gang, which made its illegal earnings by mixing regular oil with cheaper light mineral oils.

According to Jaroslav Spišiak, vice president of the Slovak police force, 23 members of the gang were arrested in the largest police action ever in the history of independent Slovakia.

More than 1,200 officers were involved in the operation against the culprits, who through their activities have cheated the state out of Sk250 million (€6.3 million) in taxes.

Among those arrested in the operation were eon policeman and one customs officer.
