Heat wave hits Slovakia

SLOVAKIA has been experiencing tropical temperatures, including a new record set on May 6 when the mercury soared to 30.6 Celsius, the hottest temperature on that day since records began in 1968.

Records were also registered in other parts of the country, including Hurbanovo, Piešťany, and Žilina.

Meteorologists predicted the heat would continue for several days.
