Foreign investment breaks all records

FOREIGN investment in Slovakia reached Sk182 billion (€4.4 billion) in 2002, almost double the previous record set in 2000. Sk152 billion (€3.7 billion) was gained through privatisation, according to the National Bank of Slovakia.

Economic analyst Marek Jakoby from MESA 10 said: "For economic growth and the reduction of unemployment, it will be important to increase the share of non-privatisation investment."

Non-privatisation investment rose by 13 percent over 2001 figures.
