State railway cancels Sk5 billion tender

State railway company ŽSR has cancelled a Sk4.8 billion (€117 million) tender for reconstruction work on the track between Šenkvice and Cífer. The work was to be 50 percent financed by the European Commission.

ŽSR explained that the offers of both companies involved in the tender had exceeded the money available for the work.

The work would have allowed trains to travel at up to 160 km/h.
