Slovakia slips in competitiveness

THE SLOVAK economy has dropped four places to lie 27th in the FA Hayek foundation table of competitiveness for countries with up to 20 million inhabitants. According to the foundation, this is due to the rise in other countries' scores.

"Slovakia's drop was mainly caused by improvements in other countries, which Slovakia had overtaken thanks to last year - an election year - and the addition of new countries to the table," explained Martin Chren from the foundation.

The table, which considers 321 criteria concerning infrastructure, government effectiveness, and economic factors, was headed by Finland, Singapore, and Denmark.
