Education to receive only 3.6 percent of GDP

Next year's proposed budget sets aside Sk46 billion (€1.1 billion) for education, which represents 3.6 percent of GDP in comparison with the average EU level of 5.8 percent.

The head of the Union of Education Workers and Scientists, Jána Gašperana, said that educational institutes need Sk55 billion (€1.3 billion) next year to cover their basic costs.
