MP Viliam Soboňa loses immunity

PARLIAMENT accepted a request from the Zvolen district prosecutor on May 22 to remove the parliamentary immunity of HZDS MP Viliam Soboňa, who is under investigation for fraud.

HZDS caucus leader Tibor Cabaj had asked for parliament to wait until the investigation into another case in which Soboňa was the plaintiff had been concluded.

The cancellation of Soboňa's immunity was supported by coalition parties, but HZDS members, communists, and independents voted against, and most members of opposition Smer abstained.
